Gitmans Limited is a family business operating for more than 40 years. The company was founded in 1969 as an Auckland based clothing retailer, with a reputation for good design, high quality and value to customers, particularly in knitwear.

By 1979 the company had started its own dedicated knitwear manufacturing operation, supplying not only its own stores, but other retailers throughout the country. The success of that operation ultimately led to Gitmans closing its own retail businesses, and concentrating solely on manufacturing and wholesale supply.

When import restrictions were lifted, the company, now managed by the next generation of the family gradually moved its manufacturing base overseas, where all of its product range is now manufactured.

With an expansion beyond knitwear Gitmans is one of the major suppliers of garments across Australasia, including lingerie, wovens and knitwear. Gitmans has a reputation for expertise, quality, service, and value.
